Ul Saltwater?

Featured Replies

Spot and croaker are really small, and the little stripers at Sandy Point State Park are also very small. How does getting a 7 UL rod and shrimp as bait work for fishing on a jetty sound to you? I haven't got any big bites with my big rods, but again, Sandy Point is beat up water.

We fished for snapper blue fish with tiny frozen shrimp.

I wonder how the bigger blues would do with shrimp for bait. Bang scents come in shrimp too.

I wouldn't go lower than medium light, something weaker but still have some strength from when you do hit something bigger

Ul for snapper blues(babies), med/light for harbor blues.

Anything bigger med/hvy. Still on the light side

Well, I like the fight of a small croaker on an UL rod. My rod is durable. Would it do to target a medium striper on one?

Fighting fish for excessive amounts of time can stress them to the point of exhaustion or death. Get a rod light enough to enjoy the fight, but strong enough to fight them in reasonable amount of time if you're going to release them.
