Fluorocarbon

Featured Replies

I have a silly question about Fluorocarbon. I have never used the stuff and was wondering can you just put it on the reel or do you have to put mono on first and then add fluorocarbon??? I have heard something about having to add mono on first, I am waiting for my second new reel and rod so I have a few days before I need to do anything.

You can put it straight on the spool but I would suggest filling your spool at least half way with cheap mono and then adding your fluoro just to save money. I usually only run 50 yards or less of fluoro.

Thanks Bluebasser86 for the insight

Is it a spinning or baitcasting reel?  If it's spinning be careful about using too heavy FC(I wouldn't go above 8lb) as it's stiff and is prone to springing off.  I have the guys at my local shop spool my baitcasters with straight fluoro, with mono backing optional.

They are baitcast reels. That's a good idea, thanks

If the cost is not an issue, Seaguar Tatsu is THE BOMB!
