I think understand a swim jig to swim it , and drop jig for around structure, but whats is benefit football jig and when is it used?

Football jigs are what I reach for when I'm dragging a jig through rocks. The wider head helps keep it out of rocks and from getting wedged as easily and because of where it's center of gravity is and where the line tie is located it keeps the back of the jig up at about a 45* angle. Combine that with a crawlike trailer and it looks like a crawdad scuttling away in a defensive position. 

I'm guessing they see dinner! 

I catch some of my biggest jig fish every year on sapphire blue, enough so that I started making my bladed jigs in that color all the way down to the blade. It ended up producing the heaviest weight of the season in the Thursday night tournaments I fish in.

Last question on this, what color skirting material is this? On TW none of the pre made skirt companies made this color, so I will make up my own for next spring. Of course the two brands of skirting material companies they carry have blues, they aren't helpful and call it electric or sapphire blue to make it easy for me. Thanks

Here are my perch imitations that I came up with and the red and white is modeled after my #1 spinnerbait color in clear water.

I get it at skirts unlimited. The color is blue/blue flake, which is basically sapphire blue.

I really jealous of all you boaters.

I have just 1 3700 box with swim and arkie head jigs with trailers already attached all jammed in together. I hate it like that but have no choice..

Being in someone else's boat all the time, space and the ability to change up quick is everything.

Curious what conditions you throw the bright blue jigs in. I throw a lot of carp and bluegill colored jigs to match the hatch so to speak. Have seen electric blue baits, just have stayed away from them because I had no clue when to toss them.

dirty water you have to try it! i threw jigs and soft plastics that color a lot last year and kept getting bit in dirty water. caught 1 over 5 and a couple around 4 lbs. me and my partner were asking eachother what that bait resembles in the water. we never figured it out, but we kept throwing it.

That's insane. I would never get a jig wet with that many options. My OCD would be mind blown.

Holy smokes that's a lot of jigs.  Be sure to check for any jigs with rubber/silicone skirt bands for rot!  (I had a few Terminator and Revenge jigs I got on clearance have pretty bad band rot!)

I spent close to 20 hours wire tying spinnerbaits and about half of the jigs pictured above. Everything I have is now wire tied. I replaced about 20 that went bad in one year before wire tying everything.

I make my own jigs as a hobby (obsession?) and if I tried to post a picture of all of them, I'd probably break the internet.

You got to do it! I want to see it broken. I tried counting just my jigs only tonight and the number is around 1100.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and seeing the jigs posted. I am not a jig fisherman but I have one box that I have a few in. I just never get excited about fishing them don't ask why I haven't a clue. 

I know this is the wrong spot to say this but if anybody's lookin to start their own I got part of my collection I'm selling. 75 various jigs (brands, head, color) packed into a bass mafia deep box. Pm if you're interested. 

 

As far as my collection goes I just started pouring my own so I'm revamping it. I should have it together in a month or so which in MN bass doesn't open till May anyways:(
