Costa Glasses

Featured Replies

So I ran over my Costas and they are going to replace them for the price of the lenses. I have always used 580G green lenses here in Missouri and fish Dingy to Muddy water in the central state area and when I fish in the south portion of the state the water is clear. The rep at Costa informed me that the green were for streams, flats and Rivers and their Silver lens is for sight fishing. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on if I should switch or opinions on the silver glass lenses?

I use silver in NE Kansas. Also have amber for cloudy days.

Both the green mirror & silver mirror lenses are copper based. The silver is the most versatile with 12% light transmission. The green has 10% light transmission with better glare reduction because of less light transmission. I just ordered a new pair of prescription lenses & frames & I went with the straight copper lense as the best for driving & sight fishing with maximum polarization. I spoke with the optometrist & with a representative at Costa headquarters. The 2% difference between the green & the silver is not noticeable by all people I was told.

Just recently purchased the 580G Silver Mirror Cortez and they are fantastic lenses. I spoke with a number of people at Costa and all suggested the Silver Mirror as the best "all around" lens. As someone who recently swore by Oakleys for the longest time (will never go back) I don't have an opinion on the green as I have never tried them out before, but I know a couple guys who have both silver mirror and green lenses on their boats for different purposes.

Ive enjoyed my green lensed oaklies. I feel they cut out a lot of the green stain in the water. Will silver be better? I dont know maybe.

I, too, have the green lenses and I fish mainly clear, natural lakes. They also double as driving glasses as they reduce glare so well.

I have the Amber 580's which are recommended for cloudy days as Blue mentioned and for driving as Papa said.

Since they are the only pair I own, I use them in all conditions and have no complaints.

I have 580 blue lenses in corbina frames and cannot live without them. In a few days i will be getting a fresh pair. Love love love my costas.

IMHO, the copper based amber lens is best for driving as they will brighten things up considerably in low light situations.

The green, silver or blue are for different types of sun.

At least that's what I've been told.

Are you using prescription lenses, if so how do you go about getting them as I will be wanting to do this in the spring.

I do not have them but I do know that you will have to go to a local dealer to handle that. They do not do it online.you can get online and put your zip code in and they will show you the closest dealer.
