Chronarch 100 SF

I bought a gold Chronarch 100 SF reel from a friend. He said he bought it about 10yrs ago and that it was kind of a special reel.

I know the SF means super fast but was wondering what makes it so..It was spooled with 20# Samurai braid and after a few casts on a Loomis MBR 843C GLX  I was really impressed.  An 1/8 oz weight with a brush hog just kept flying!

Pinion and spool shaft stay in alignment when reel is disengaged resulting in almost no friction on the spool shaft when casting. I don't know the quality of the spool but it's a "wiffle" spool from 13+ years ago. Lots of guys on TT like this reel for frogging and buzzbaits.

SF doesn´t mean super fast, it means Super Free, back in those days at the beginning of that series the only reels that had SF were the Curado 100B and the Calais. Later the feature was incorporated to 4 reels: Curado 200BSF, Chronarch 100SF, Chronarch 100SF MG and Castaic, to the  SF feature the "Wiffle" spool was added as means of reducing spool weight and also reducing the depth which meant less line and therefore lighter spool.

I have that reel and even today, so many years later it´s one of my most precious possessions, the reel is awesome.

I just used it for a short time and was very impressed!  I see what you mean.

At first I was a little hesitate to buy a reel that old  but now I'm glad I did.

I still use a Curado 200BSF and use to own the Chronarch 100SF that you just bought, I still regret selling that reel.
