I purchased one of these today , the series 2 . The main reason is because its listed diving range is 8 to 22 feet . What ? Thats a big difference . So I'm hoping it will split the middle and get down to about 14 foot with 12 lb test . I wont be able to use it for several months now . Do any of you know how deep this thing actually goes ?

Mine runs maybe 8' on 10lb but I doubt it gets that deep. It's a good bait, no idea how you would get to 22' though. It could probably be fished on a spinning rod and 8lb test and maybe hit 12-15.

I say it could reach 22 feet only if it was being trolled or long lined.

I want to say that maybe it's a typo and it's supposed to be 8'-12'?

Nope. TW advertises it as being a 20' diver

Normally when you see a large range of depth is they tested it as a trolling bait in addition to casing. Bagley and Smithwick will often list casting and trolling depths and this is no different except they don't say it. It is 1/2oz so I'd thing a decent length cast would get it down to around 10' to 12' with mono and maybe 14' with 8lb or 10lb fluorocarbon.

Bummer , I would not have purchased it if I knew it only runs about 8 foot . I dont need another 8 foot crankbait .

The big Series 3 Freak gets way down there if you're really looking for a deep running bait. Of course, it's considerably larger as well.

word of caution , be easy on the bill of the bait , i've had a few luck-e-strike baits break where the bill meets the body ...
