Another One From Illinois

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm from North Central Illinois or Southwest of Chicago on the Illinois River. I've been fishing for 60 years and still learning new tricks. During the summer I either go to Ontario a couple of times for 2 weeks or just take off for a whole month and fish up there. I fly fish, spin fish and use bait casters. Because I don't eat the fish I catch ,I practice Catch and Release. I normally target the smallmouth while I'm up there but when I get bored I will go after Northern Pike and walleyes as a last resort. Being retired gives me time during the winter months to build custom rods to have something to do. I normally give them away to friends I know. I also make a lot of my own baits that I use. I don't mind sharing information on places I fish or how I fish them.

I have been reading threads on here for sometime now and was surprised to find out that people actually DO share information on here. I have asked a couple of questions on here and have gotten some good help and solid information back either in posts or by PM's. This site as a lot to offer and look forward to being a member.

Welcome to the club, I'm not too far from you out of Elgin Illinois. Primarily on Wisconsin lakes, or Fox River for smallies and walleye like you. I also practice catch and release unless it's salmon out of Lake Michigan.

Greetings and Welcome to the forums :)

Welcome, You will learn a lot here!

Welcome to the forums.  This site has helped me a bunch and I try to help others as well.  I'm in oak park, just west of Chicago.
