Looking for suggestions or guidance on a rod for flipping, pitching, punching, and the occasional frog or small swimbait. Not sure of length or power either. I'd like to keep it around $100 but might be willing to go up to $160. So far my list includes:

Duckett Ghost or Terex

Dobyns Fury(Only problem is nobody around here carries Dobyns for me to hold and examine)

IRod Fiber Series

Okuma TCS

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 

I wouldn't recommend the ghost. Braided line would tear those guides up. I'm partial to the okuma tcs rods, there's a topic on it right now if you haven't seen it.

I'm def gonna get a 735C. Thinking about getting a 765 as well for plain flipping. Not sure if the fact that it's a medium/heavy will hold up to heavy grass and slop flipping.

i handled the furys the other day i was very impressed.  was light and balanced. guides aligned. very good looking rod. i would definitely go that route over a duckett

I picked up a Dobyn's Fury 795 last week for smaller swimbaits and A-rigs. Made my first few cast with it yesterday and it worked terrific. Loaded very well and launched a Triple Trout and Punker a long ways. As long as the sensitivity is there and they prove to be durable they'll be a great buy at that $100 price point. 

I've had an Okuma TCS Mat Daddy punching rod for about a year now and have been really happy with it if you're willing to spend a little more. They're very light and sensitive and will haul some fish out of the thick stuff for sure.

Agreed. Based on feel alone felt as good as my Avid X. Hopefully the Avid X will perform better with a fish attached. Definitely considering other Furys at that price point.

Didn't happen to hold a 765 did you? Just wondering if it's gonna be heavy enough for heavy grass and slop beings it's a medium heavy.

IRod Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick would be a good option if you wanted one stick to do everything. I believe it's $150 on TW. Their might be a similar model I. The Fiber series I'm not sure.

no sadly my loca store didnt have a 765 in stock. was a 703 and 704 i handled

Where is the best place to purchase the Dobyns rods online??

i just got the dobyns savvy with the $25 coupon - American Legacy, as mentioned earlier...even with shipping it was cheapest....you can only do it once ( with them anyways ). this rod is ridiculously nice for the money ( not that it's cheap ) , but i did hear from many the fury was good too . without coupon, i couldnt find it any cheaper than TW - free shipping...also good reviews on tcs , and denali covert is good too

What model of Savvy did you get?

i got the spinning 693 m f ...plan on using it for jerbaits, light cranks, - maybe smaller topwaters and skipping weightless senkos

I just bought 735 C Fury MH/F 1/4"-1 1/2" last week from our local dealer for flipping & pitching. Very impress all around with this purchase! The sales rep told me that they couldn't even keep the Furies in stock since they launch them last year & that everyone has reordered more rods since their 1st purchase! He also mention that the regional sales rep for Dobyns said there's a possibility that they might drop their Savvy line in the future because the Fury blew them out of the water at that selling point! I like it the purchase so much I pre-ordered the 705CB & 703C! Dobyns gets my vote

I'm getting a champion 765c in sometime this coming week.The champion 735c is my all time favorite rod and I recommend shelling out the cash for it.    As for the fury I consider them the best bang for your buck.  Want to fill a boat with quality rods and still have money for reels? go fury. Want a technique specific rod that you'll  have in your hand 90% of the time ? Go Champion and above.  Awesome to see Gary produce a series of rods at a flooded price point and blow out the competition.

i meant to mention its actually labeled as a jig, t-rig, senko, and shakey head rod...it's really pretty versatile - i'm pretty impressed by all the praise going on for the fury also , as aprilbass101 just mentioned

I own the 705CB. I haven't fished with it yet as I live in Michigan but it feels awesome.

It really pays to see the rods in person. 

Duckett won't let you down!
