I'm gonna try out dropshot this year. Can you guys recommend 2-3 good "starter baits" to learn dropshot? I fish mostly small ponds and lakes with small bass. 

I like Strike King Dream Shots. The tail on them narrows and then widens out giving them great action on the hook. Also Berkeley Drop Shot Minnow and Jackells Cross Tail but they are expensive.

Yeah I've heard a lot about those dreamshots. 

Roboworms are really popular and my personal favorite. Pretty much all I use actually gor drop shotting haha

Ok maybe I'll start with those two then. 

Don't forget the 4" senko!

Dreamshots and 4" roboworms are the two I always carry, and they get the job done without a doubt

Zoom finesse worms, Jackall cross tail shad, and keitech swing impact. 

The YUM Warning Shot has great action on a dropshot and they're pretty cheap and durable.

4" senko t-rig, nose hooked, or wacky?

I have fished quite a few. My must have baits would be:

1. Jackall I-shad

2. Jackall Cross Tail shad

3. Roboworm 4 inch strait tail worm

4. Yamamoto Shad shaped worm

If you can't get bit on one of these it's not the bait.

 

Ok I'll look into all of these but I think I'm gonna start with roboworm, dreamshot, and 4in senko.

They are one of my favorites too...........if I had to choose just one bait out of my drop shot rotation to use, they would be it.

Oh and what is a good all around weight for 1-6 foot water. (Never deeper than 12ft)

For weight go 1/8 oz.

For plastics I'd go with a 3.5" Molix Sator Worm, 4" Yamamoto Kut Tail, and a 4" Jackall Crosstail Shad.  If you're on a budget the Yum Sharpshooters (4.5")/Warning Shots/Kill Shots are amazing.  The Dream Shots are also very nice, but expect to get a lot of tails bitten off.

Ok I'll start with roboworms, wacky dinger (lol), and Dreamshot . I did look at everyone else's suggestions but I think those 3 is a good starting point. 

I'm also thinking of trying the split shot rig as well. I already have some tubes grubs and curl tail worms. Will that be enough? 

Like others have said you can't go wrong with the dream shot. Has a great action with the shape of the tail. My best producing colors are dirt, ghost shad, and KVD magic.
