Casting help!

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble casting 1/8 Oz. jigs on my current set up. I am using a 6ft 6in Trevalla jigging rod and a 500 series Calcutta casting reel. I don't seem to understand what the issue is. I mean generally I can cast this set up a country mile using two to four ounce jigs. I mean it says jigging rod so should cast all jigs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I should try a different brand of reel or a different rod.

Do I work with you?  You sound like one of my coworkers?

I like that video. I will be showing that to some of my friends. Quite informative.

You couldn't have sent me that 7 years ago when I was trying to learn to cast a bait caster? :(

That is one reel sweet combo, how about some Pic's......

Don't you have open water where you live?

I've fished almost everyday for the last month and a half.

However, I am a bit under the weather today and taking a sick day. So I decided to try my hand at trolling today.

I'll see if I can find some for ya. However, the fact that I palm a 500 Calcutta like most people do a 100 series may make me look like a freak of nature or something along those lines. I have a very fragile ego about my massive hands. :D

What would really be the hot ticket is a video of you hurling those two 4oz. jigs and at the same time manhandling that 500....hope that does not hurt your fragile ego....

Figured that from your number of posts and the number of years using a baitcast reel.  Also from the tongue in cheek comment about casting 4 oz. jigs a country mile and wondering why a 1/8 oz. jig won't cast an equal distance on the same combo.

I have free time occasionally, but don't know how to troll.  :P  Wouldn't have your sense of humor anyway.

So is that a good combo for trolling?  :D

It's easy just pick a topic and troll away. A little humor does folks good from time to time.

Sounds to me like that new job gives your brain too much slack time.
