Electrical problems

Featured Replies

I purchased a 1990 Procraft Stalker C170 bass boat about a month ago.  The boat is in good shape overall.  I have replaced all three batteries (one marine, and two deep cells).  The problem is that except for the trolling motor, I still can't get any of the other electrical components to work:  fish finder, bilge pumps, live wells, running lights, etc.  I wanted to know if there is a something simple that I am missing; perhaps a fuse or something.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

Sorry to hear about your electrical problems.

Going to be tough trying to diagnose the problem over the internet.

This is an opportunity for you to learn your boat's electrical system rather intimately, especially if you plan on diagnosing & repairing it yourself.

I'd recommend starting at the power source and working back to the fuse box and then to each unit/system.

Good Luck

There may be a master circuit breaker that is turned off. Could be right on the dashboard. Possibly in the battery compartment.

Welcome and good luck.   I know nothing about your boat's electrical system, but I have a little experience with electrical problems.  All bad.  AJay is correct.  You're going to learn a lot.  And you must trace every wire, connection, lead, etc.  And hope and pray that you only have one 'problem'.  Multiple, simultaneous faults will certainly cause loss of sleep, hair and sanity.

Look good, with that may electrical components out sound like there is a main cut off switch. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

If nothing works, Then there is either a master switch that is turned off, a circuit breaker that has tripped, or you have lost the ground.

Double check your instrument panel.  You may have a switch labeled "power".  If that is not turned on, you will not have lights, electronics, etc.

Contact the seller, and ask him if there is a switch or a breaker in the circuit.

I agree contact the seller and ask questions if he doesn't have answers look for bad grounds  you may need to invest in a multi  meter  also look around and the battery aria for any un hooked  wires  that's    A possibility  look  for any pinched wires   Fuses  or circuit breakers
