Glide Baits

Featured Replies

Just wanted to hear your opinions on which glide baits to get. I have a gantarel and a 5" SG shine glide.

I'm looking at larger baits, but nothing huge (9"+) yet... the Deps slide swimmer 175, the Megabass i-slide 185, the R2S s-waver 168s... Thoughts? Please share your experiences.

I like the bigger Shine Glides, Deps 175, and S Waver 168/200. I've caught more fish on the Deps than the others, but I've probably fished it more than the rest. The Savage Gear Glide Swimmer is pretty decent too. I like the Jackall Chibitrel (JDM Gantarel Jr), but I haven't fished it much yet.

I'll be ordering a gantarel jr soon, thinking about getting a Kawashi Mikey too

Gan Craft 178 jointed claw.

I love the S Waver 168S. With the shine glide coming in a close second

I have this one in this pattern. http://www.***.com/Savage_Gear_Glide_Swimmer/descpage-SGGS.html

Haven't caught a thing on it yet. The reason I bought baby bass pattern is there are no shad or trout where I usually would use it.

I have noticed bigger baits glide better, and I have not used them lately for Bass but do like to throw them in Saltwater.

I did get into the R2Sea Wide Glide for a while even though many people complained about that bait, but I found that on Days fish were keying on bigger baits some days a glide would work better than a walk..

I have a few S-waver's and Savage Glide baits, I know they are considered "Cheaper" but they do glide nicely. I have tried the Jackall Gyron and the detail is awesome, but I found it to be a bit stiff for my liking, it was more of a walk then a glide but I didn't give it alot of chances...I would think the newer models are better, you can go on you tube and look at demos for all those baits....I would suggest looking at Tank Demo's to make sure the lure fits your style of fishing.

Glide baits are bigger and get bigger bites but they take patience and practice. There are good videos on how to fish glide baits for Musky and Stripers that help as well. Glide baits started with Musky Lures and for Stripers, lures like the Rapala Glidin Rap and BOmber Herky Jerky have been around forever, but are the size of a big bluegill...

Deps gets a lot coverage and also difficult to find these days. ABT Suicide glide is in the same class as Deps and easier to find, works as good IMO.
