Which new Legend Elites for (Jerk Bait)

Featured Replies

I got an opportunity to trade in my older Xtremes for one of the newer Elites.  But I want a jerbait rod.  Which one of the casting series would fit best for all arounder jerkbait?  Mainly 110's

I like the 610MXF for throwing jerks.  I don't know why, I just do.

I was either looking at the 6'8 fast, and the 7 med fast.  I didn't even think about the extra fast tips.  I just talk to one of the reps.  She said the 7 med would do me good buy I want more opinions before I trade the rod in.

If your really going to pick your spots, say an opening in an overhanging tree, then that xtra fast is cool because you can really pinpoint a cast.  But if your targets aren't generally so critical, then I would go with a fast action moderate power rod

yea this rod will be more for open water.  How ever Im looking really close at the 6'10 now too.  So the more the opinions the better.  I've fish alot of jig rods form St.Croix and owned a Big Cranker.  I wonder if most of their blanks would be the same up to the Elite as in action and power.  From LTB to the Elites.   MIght have to take a trip down to Cabela's later and feel for my self but everytime I go there the Elites are all gone.

The 6'8" medium, extra fast and there is a reason. If you look at the lure rating they are both the same but look at the line rating, the fast model is 10-17, the extra fast is 8-14, and with St. Croix rods that tells me the extra fast version is a little softer and you may want that. The 6'10" medium, extra fast is only rated 1/8oz to 5/16oz so it would be regulated to Pointer 65s and not much else. If it were me I'd look at the 6'8" M-XF

I believe that is a typo that has been ongoing for a couple years.  If it isn't, the 610mlxf is rated to be a heavier rod than the 610mxf.

How well does the 6'10 do with Megabass magnum jerks?  Reason I'm choosing the 6'8 because it's rated to 5/8 and that is the heaviest I throw.

I use the ltb 68mxf for jerkbaits. Awesome stick. I throw pointer 78s and 100s with the 100 more times than not. Perfect pointer 100 rod . I don't throw vision 110  but I'm pretty sure the 100 is pretty close in size and weight. Should be perfect for it.

I have a Curado 51 on mine. Ridiculously lightweight and would have no issues throwing it for an entire day
