I have had my abu garcia revo rocket for a while now. Since the beginning, I have noticed a problem with it's casting. It just doesn't cast as far as my other reels. Anyone else experienced this? If anyone has any suggestions to fix it, please let me know.

Haven't heard of any problems with this reel. Are you sure you have it dialed in just right ?

Yeah, its all dialed in, but it just wont cast very far.

mine cast's a mile......check to see if there is to much oil or grease in it.otherwise check with DVT  they'll have an answer.

I have several Rockets...they all cast fine.  Sounds like something is out of whack.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I had the same problem with mine initially.  I talked with DVT about it so, I tore my reel apart and made sure everything was super clean and lubed up.  Make sure the shaft, or rod, what ever the spool is on is aligning with the side plates.  The rod is very short on these reels.  I tore mine apart a couple of times to do what I mentioned above and finally took it out and and starting casting a heavy lure to "stretch out the reel," and loosen everything up.  After a couple of times of doing that she worked fine.

I use to be a huge Abu fan until the gen 3 Revos. With the Gen 3's (which includes the rocket) don't use the centrifugal brakes just use the magnetic from some reason the centrifugal brakes completely shut down all of the casting difference in the Revos, but the magnetic brakes work just fine.

Just to be sure, is the Rod appropriate for the Baits you're trying to cast ? A deep cleaning almost always brings a reel to life whether it's having issues or not
