Hello everyone. I went out today on a local lake and struggled to find fish consistently. I went out with a buddy for probably 3 hours and only got 7, which is not very good for the lake. We tried fishing tubes on a dropoff and did not get any. We then proceeded to crank the shorelines with squarebills. The only fish we got were on squarebills in around 3-4 feet. They were mostly male. That said, could I get some help on what stage the fish are in, things to try, and places to go? The water temp is 52. There are NO fish on beds. We are just coming off of a huge cold front. Thank you for any advice you can give

Hi everyone. I just installed my Minn Kota Ultrex today and I have one major question. Where do I mount the heading sensor? The heading sensor allows the motor to do everything gps related. I just don't know where to mount it. It says in the manual that you cannot mount it near metal or magnetic object. Can you mount the sensor next to a lowrance carbon I have up on the bow? I didn't know if that would cause any interference. The spot next to the carbon on the bow would be the best spot, but I don't want the sensor to be less effective because it's next to a fish finder. Any suggestions?

Hello! I have an 18 foot skeeter with one lowrance HDS Carbon 9. I just got myself another HDS Carbon 9 and I am buying an Ultrex because by Edge died. I was looking at the point one but I have a bunch of questions. I am going to connect the two lowrances with an ethernet cable. Do I need two point one's? One for each unit? Will the point one affect the internal GPS of the Ultrex? Any information would be helpful... Thank you

What is the best frog on the market? I have tried a couple of frogs and I cannot find one that is durable. I first started to frog this past year, and I want to do a lot of it next year. I just havent found the frog for me... any thoughts?

Thanks for the responses. What I mean by saying I work my gear hard is that I fish 5-7 days a week every week except for the winter. Right now I am mostly fishing Daiwa and shimano. I have a phlueger too but I don’t really like it. Quick question, can you skip with an open faced reel? I’ve never used one before.

I'm looking to buy a new reel for skipping and all around jig fishing. I've tried several companies, but I can't find a reel (and company) that I can completely trust. The closest company to my trust is Shimano. Even them, I've had or have had friends that has had problems with shimano. I work my gear hard, and most of the reels I get cannot hold up. What's your most reliable and favorite baitcast reel?

My buddy and I went out fishing today on a small lake in southern NH. We came across a weird pattern of throwing big glide baits, topwater, and jerkbaits for suspended smallmouth. The alewife were busting on a grass drop off pretty close to shore and we went out deep because we saw a big blow up on the surface. We caught the fish that blew up and stayed out deep for a while. After about an hour, we had pretty much fished the spot out. We got some really nice smallmouth and had one close to 5 follow up the glide bait right to the boat. When I was fishing the spook, I had a 4 blow up on me and when I got him to the boat, he had probably 3 or 4 with him. We were casting at random spots and were getting bit. Are there any ways I can find isolated schools of suspended smallies(I have a trolling motor and a lowrance. Just not a big motor)? Also, what would you recommend using to catch suspended smallies. I honestly dont know how far down they were and how far they were coming up to get our presentations. Any responses would be appreciated. Thank you so much

I live on a small lake in southern NH that has alewife in it. Today my buddy and I went out and were catching smallmouth in the middle of no where on topwater, jerkbaits and swimbaits because they were chasing the bait. What we noticed is that 90% of the time, the bait was not busting on the surface. Where we were catching them was at random. We were fishing over 30-40 feet off of a grass drop off where the wind was blowing. After we fished out the spot, we had no where else to go, because we did not know where we could find the bait. What are places that we should target to find suspended bait.

Thank you so much. This makes so much sense now. The 8 pounder my buddy pulled up looked like he had a soccer ball in his stomach. He was telling me how that fish must be munching on trout. What you said makes complete sense. I will definitely try that. Thank you everyone for the responces

I recently found an offshore spot that the big largemouth like to feed. It is a sand/weed flat in 18-23 feet. My first time there my buddy got an 8 which is a trophy fish in NH. He got it on a texas rigged senko. Whenever I go there I mark scattered fish, but they are giants. My problem is getting them to bite. Once in a while I miss them on a texas rigged stick worm but I don't get much bites at all. What would you throw for scattered largemouth in 20 feet?

I want to start throwing big swimbaits. I live on a lake in southern NH which is known for big bass and I want to have a pretty good shot of hooking into one. Where should I fish to target the bigger bass with swimbaits? Thanks

I would like to start getting into big swimbait fishing. I went out a few days ago and missed some good fish, due to not having a stinger hook. What sized hook should I use for a stinger hook on a 6 inch huddleston or an 8 inch osprey? I am looking to buy some treble hooks, but I have no clue what size to get. Thanks

Have you heard much about how it performs? That was the one I was mainly looking at.

I think I want a screen around 9 inches. The Humminbird 10 helix g2n goes for I think 1700. The 9 inch gen 3 and carbon are both over 2000. I've also been thinking about the elite 9ti but I've read a lot of bad reviews. What do you think?

I need to upgrade the fishfinders on my boat. I have been looking at the lowrance hds gen 2 touch and the humminbird helix g2n. I am willing to spend around $1600. Has anyone had any experiances with either the humminbird helix g2n or the hds gen 2? What one should I buy? Are there any different fishfinders you recommend? Thanks.
