I caught a 18 inch drum today it was hard fishing on my ugly stik. Does anybody know how to catch lots of them? I used nightcrawlers 

Nightcrawlers work good . 

Night crawlers or leaches on a jig or slip bobber work well, I have been catching the on the ned rig recently too.

they eat primarily on the bottom, and will eat anything you put in front of them on bottom.

I find putting a bait in the water to work best for drum.

Seriously, I've caught them on everything except a topwater. Once they get larger than a couple pounds they become mainly fish eaters but they eat lots of crawdads too. A live crawdad is far and away the best bait for them here. If you're going to fish a lure for them, I'd suggest a crawdad colored crankbait (I like a wiggle wart), bumped slowly around rocky areas. A Ned rig is also a drum catching machine. I've caught them on every type of plastic, crank, trap, jerkbait, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, swimbaits, everything but a topwater.
