Been wondering how I would deal with it this year. This is the first time in 2 1/2 decades I don't have to be there.

I can stop wondering. Feels pretty good.

You'll come to appreciate it too when you're a cranky old man like me one day.

My daughter started on friggin' August 1st.  Don't ask me why as I don't have the foggiest idea why this county insists on starting so early.

Its a decision you will never regret. I regret not going to college. The end result is working a %^#@ job with low wages. GO TO SCHOOL!!!! My dad once told me "You may like McDonalds food but you won't when you are serving it".

In the greater Richmond area up to Fredericksburg and the surrounding counties public schools do not open until after Labor Day due the the Kings Dominion Law.

This law, passed by the Virginia General Assembly many years ago, keeps the public schools closed until the first week of September so that Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens and other tourist locations can keep the high school kids working.

In the northern and western parts of the state our public schools are already open and ready to rock and roll.

Yep, I'm ready to work hard but I just can't believe how fast it's gone. I joined this site as a freshman in HS I feel like it was yesterday! Go Gators!

And for the love of all things holy -- choose a degree in a field with reasonable job prospects!  It's great to say you're following your passion by getting your degree in Sanskrit (bonus points for those of you who recognize the movie reference), but it ain't a great life decision to go tens of thousands of dollars, or more, into debt only to work in a career field with low earnings potential

If you feel that strongly about getting a degree in one of those areas, at least get a minor in something more useful so you have a plan B.
