130 Whopper Plopper

The best way to find your answer is to use the search feature. Lot's of great info on the bait and correct rod to use. I throw mine with a Dobyns Champion 736 and use 20lb Big Game. Is that "The best" rod? I'm not sure, but it works great for me, and what will be best for me may not be for you. Take a little time to read through posts and narrow down your selection, and try to handle the rods (with a reel on) to get a feel for it, good luck.

I throw it on a muskie rod haha. I'd throw it on a Dobyn's Fury 734.

I use a 7'2" HF Tatula, now if I was getting a rod specifically for it I would get something else but with a limited rod arsenal it's what works best out of what I have.

What would you get?

I've thrown it on a 7 ft MH and a 7 ft H rod. The MH more in open water and the H more around cover (weeds, wood, and docks).

Probably a longer rod, 7' 6", maybe even longer, MH MF. Something to really launch it a mile on those days where I'm just covering water with it.

Anything that will handle the weight of the plopper.. I usually throw it on one of my heavy jig rods which are Cara Amistads with 16lb. flouro.

The Fred's magic stick from iRod would be a good choice. You could use it for a bunch of other things, too.
