Whopper Plopper...?

Featured Replies

You guys like the original whopper plopper with the rattles or do you prefer the silent and why?

Thanks

Original, but I can't imagine it's rattling much during the straight retrieve I use with them so doubt ti would make a difference either way.

I personally can't believe that they released a silent one. It's a buzzbait, which is supposed to make as much noise as possible, why in the world would you want a "silent" one?? Just my 2 cents.

You want noise and it will make noise chopping the water, the more noise the better in my opinion.  Go with the original.

Is the silent version lighter? could that be the reason?

Not enough to matter. They just want to sell more by convincing you that you need another version of the same bait. Kinda like when there are a million color options.

I get it, I'm just telling it like it is :P

Thanks for posting this.  I really thought I was missing something but was too ashamed to ask.  I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and I no longer have to accept the false fact that I would never reach angling nirvana unless I owned every color in both regular and silent.

So is TW only selling the 90 in silent now? I've asked here before and it seems to be the case but no one answered.

It list them on their website so I'm going with yes they are.

Kind of that whole feed a man fish or teach him to fish thing ......

On a straight retrieve I doubt it rattles at all unless you are fishing in some serious chop on the water. IMO the original sits kind of low in the water and a more bouyant one would be nice, but I don't think the weight of the one or two metal balls they use for the rattle has enough of a weight difference to make a good enough difference.

I love the whopper plopper....Silent works best for me..
