I have had lots of spare time  lately due to a home situation.I was thinking about making a still. Anyone here ever do it with any success. How much $$$$$ was invested? Thanks

Why not just purchase one of the many commercially available stills on the market?   A small 5 -10 gallon still is reasonably affordable.   Keep in mind that in most states it is legal to distill essential oils, but the distillation of alcohol is a no no.

Yep this is gonna be on lockdown lol. Good luck tho. You might be a redneck if you're interested in makin shine.

You're alright in my book ?

Good legal shine is available in a lot of areas now. My personal favorite is Belmont Farms Virginia Lightening.

a friend of mine made one when we were in highschool for a senior research project.  he and one of the teachers had to get a ton of local approvals in order to make it fully functional.  but he did and it worked!

i grew up in Appalachian area of Western, NC and moonshine is still as popular as ever.  My family on my dad's side was in the business for decades.  My grandmother was the driver of the car as the lawmen would least suspect the girl to be the transporter.  Her 12 brothers and sisters and my great grandparents were the manufacturers and she was the delivery driver.  There's something about that cold/clear mountain water that's just right for the process!

i'm with you.... that said the best moonshine i've ever had was from Boone, NC and was charcoal filtered or distilled whatever the appropriate term would be.  it was a grayish brown that looked toxic, but good god was it potent and unbelievably smooth.
