Pocket Knife

Featured Replies

Need a good everyday carry pocket knife.  I had the Kershaw Blackout for quite a while and liked it just fine, nothing special about it I guess.  I would like to keep the budget around 100 dollars or less if that will buy a good quality knife.

Let me know what you use and why you like it.

I own and carry a Gerber Fast Draw with a 3 inch blade. The reason is its sharp out of the pack, has a lock and is assisted open. That helps since I damaged my 2 thumbs in an auto accident years ago. The strength in my thumbs has never been the same. Its tough to open a normal knife with a thumb stud but the assisted open makes it easy.

Probably not what you are thinking of, but this is what I always carry.  Does most anything I need a knife to do.  About $5 bucks on ebay.  Cuts braid too!

Nothing wrong with your suggestion.    Not exactly what I was thinking but I do appreciate the response.

My everyday carry knife (home or work) is an inexpensive Case knife that I bought for under $15.00 at either a Lowe's or a Home Depot store. I keep it sharp and pull it out pretty much every day. Small enough to carry even when wearing dress clothes and has a three inch blade. I have larger knives that I would take in a survival situation, but for everyday use this little knife has never let me down

I'm with this guy ^ I have alot of knives. But the one I pack everyday is a Milwaukee (tool company) fastback knife I got at home depot for 30 dollars. It's very sharp, has a serrated edge at the bottom , has a wicked easy assisted opening and is reliable; just like everything else I have ever owned from Milwaukee.

Also you probably couldn't go wrong with a leatherman . I love all the tools mine comes with.

I carry a kershaw chive serrated daily. It's small, sharp, assist opening, and cheap enough I won't cry if i lose it.

My Leatherman is always in my pocket and used constantly. Just a knife blade would be much less useful.

I have carried a Kershaw Blackout Serrated everyday for over 15 years.  Love em.

I usually carry a Spyderco copilot. I also have a Spyderco ladybug clipped to my keychain.

I have some nice knives but carry a Husky folding box knife. They are less than $10 so if I lose it and I have lost some nice knives it's no big deal if I lose this one. Also I don't have to sharpen blades and I don't enjoy doing that so that was a great feature. 6d15344a-3508-4a73-aa02-e71b69ecd12e_300

If you don't mind the extra weight the leartherman wave is a great multi tool. I've had mine for 12 years and use something on it almost every day. It's also great for fishing as the scissors cut braid, the pliers are good at removing hooks and the file can be used to sharpen hooks

Been looking at the para military II but not sure that it's size is what I am looking for in an EDC

Chive and Scallion are a couple I have looked at, the Ken Onion series all look to be good.

Kershaw scrambler.

it cuts any thing I need on a daily basis and have even used to finish off and gut a deer.

Kershaw 8100 funxion.  I really like the small cord cutter for cutting line.

Those utility knives are just cheating!  Part of carrying a knife is learning to keep it sharp.   I have a stone next to my TV remote.  ;)

I appreciate all of the suggestions, I would like to hear about some of the high end knives that you guys own.  I have decided that I would like to buy something very nice.

For under $100, you can't go wrong with Kershaw. I have a Chive and a Scallion. Keep one on me at all times. They've never let me down.

For something a little nicer than Kershaw, check out the Benchmade 940 series. Should be a good starting point for you.

I'm a razor blade guy.  I like/need a sharp blade at all times. For work I use it everyday,  for home use, I use it every day.

Blades are cheap,  and they come sharp enough to shave with.

I carry a wooden handle craftsman one with a pocket clip.

Molay, you have opened the box to a lot of suggestions as there are so many knives out there that you can consider.

I will not give you any specific knives to review but will suggest going to a store that sells lots of knives and look at a number of them based on their size and functions.

Let us know which one you decide upon.

Appreciate the advice, right now I have a couple brands that I am going to check into a little more, Spyderco. and Zero Tolerance, both have a couple of knives that interest me.       Anyone know of a good online dealer?

Ha-ha agreed man ! I have 2 of those. And one of the picture I posted. Also 2 of their fastback box cutters. Big fan for sure. I'd run all Milwaukee tools if I could afford it lol
