0-14 foot depth crankbait?

Featured Replies

What is the deal with this crank? It's a matzuo that I've never used and bought a few years back. What's up with the with the 0-14' depth spec? Is it a sinking lure or do they not want to commit to a specific depth because of all the factors that affecting a lures diving depth?IMG_0878.JPG

I guess if it floats at rest - there's your zero depth deal.

I've never seen that particular Matzuo.

Sort of looks like a spiffy shad rad or a tuned up MirrOlure ~

Any floating diving lure will have 0 to whatever depth it dives to range. Norman DD 14 would be 0-14' for example.

Right. I've seen it on some of the bomber lures too. 0-8 ft.

It must float.

Ok, that makes sense. It's just inconsistent throughout lure makers. I'm used to seeing  5-7ft as an example, but technically it would be 0-7 ft. Thanks for the input.

Looks like a Glass Rap, one of my favorite versions of the Shad Rap.

No, it isn't for sure, just very, very similar.

Haha I was gonna say. I own 150+ rapalas I've hand selected (ya know, not just bought in bulk like 5 silver 07 shad raps) over the past 11 years and own plenty shad raps and glass shad raps. I have a glass fat rap.. and have never seen that color !  The insides look a little different too.

Cool bait though.  I wonder if he's fished it !! I'd like to know if he's had success on it.

I don't think I've ever fished that one. I'll probably give it a shot next year.

The bass are still hitting SB's and lipless cranks in 45-49 degree water, so I don't plan on trying that thing out anytime soon.
