Finding Fish

Recommended Posts

I will be fishing a 127 acre lake in Pa from 12-5 tomorrow. The lake has shad perch bluegill bass and pickerel. there are lots of docks. I have caught fish on docks from all sides of the lake except the left shallow bank. Also, i want to try to find an offshore school. swim jigs swimbaits and snakes usually work for the docks. what will work offshore and where can i find the fish

Not sure if you have access to all the shoreline (or in a boat).. but If it were me I'd try the bank south of the smaller deep spot in the narrow section to the East.

North of the deepest area  are a couple of small points and a small hump . Theres not a  lot of structure and its a shallow lake  .I would search that area out .

Here in Missouri the key to finding the most and better fish right now is finding the shad. That's pretty much the Fall and Winter deal any where I've been that shad is the main food source. I would think your fish should be near the schools of shad too. I would start out idling around looking for shad on the depth finder. If the fish are not schooling on the shad I would seek out structure and docks near them and start there. Good luck.

I love small lakes like this. Big enough to grow a beast and small enough to navigate and learn the whole thing from a small boat.

I'd try the north side right where the shallow drops off first.

Good luck

Agree with finding the shad, especially the larger shad that attract the larger bass.

Yes, If you have gizzard shad they should be up in the rocks, RIGHT on the bank, eating algae. Soon, if not right now. You should be able to see them, depending on water clarity. A square bill, spinner bait or topwater etc. fished right on the bank can be the DEAL.
