Need help Identifying this Crainkbait

Featured Replies

This may be a dumb question but I can't seem to find this crainkbait anywhere in town. I have a little private Lake I fish and have caught some monsters on this little guy and I'm terrified to lose it and not be able to find it again! The bottom of it doesn't have any markings on it to indicate a brand or maker.... I'm pretty sure I put the red hooks on myself about a year ago but I can't seem to find it anywhere, thanks to everyone for the help!!

Not a dumb question at all. Confidence is nothing to scoff at.

That's a BPS... something or other. I have one too, an XPS version (BPS top-o-the line: $6 instead of $3).

It also looks similar to a H2O Xpress crankbait from Academy Sports.

I checked at Bass Pro a few months ago and didn't see it. They seemed to have a real low stock last time I went maybe they were just out.  I'll run by there and check today and take it with me this time. The Academy one definitely does looks just like it so at least I'll have some like it! Thank y'all for your help!

Similar but not the same. I have the same plug he's trying to find -a small 2" coffin-billed CB called the Lazer-Eye. Could be a good replacement though, if they have the 2" size.

From the BPS website it looks like they don't make it anymore. Here's what's apparently replaced it:

Bass Pro Shops XPS Lazer Eye  http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPS-Lazer-Eye-Hard-Baits-Shallow-Crank/product/51808/

Some good replacements (closest in design: 2", high floating, substantial bill) could be: Strike King Pro Series 1, Strike King KVD 1.0, or the Rapala DT4. The DT4 has a rounded bill but is buoyant and deflects through cover nicely.

Good luck with it.

Most every BPS bait I've every seen either says BPS or XPS on it somewhere so you might check if it has writing on it anywhere. It looks like an XPS crankbait that my buddies stepson used to always do well on. They no longer have them on their website that I see though. It's been several years since I've seen one last but they had a line up of baits that were their high end cranks that sold for around 6 or 7 dollars, I'm pretty sure they all came with red hooks too.

The bait is a Bass Pro XPS Pro Series Flat Crank. The Pro series was one of BPS's top of the line baits and they did all come with red hooks.

Man! It's hard to know anymore. There are SO many baits, and they change so often.

It's 100% one of the BPS line of cranks that run about $5 - $6
