Ideal power rod for shakey head fishing?

Featured Replies

I just use my jig rod which is a 7' MH fast. Works well but I really don't throw anything lighter than a 1/4 with it.

I prefer a 7' medium powered, fast action rod.

For light shakey heads I use my drop shot rod (ML spinning). Heavier ones (like 1/4oz or more) I use my MH (spinning).

Yeah that's what I was thinking of using.

I use my ml drop shot rod for 1/16 to 3/16 jig heads and a medium spinning rod for 1/4 ounce or heavier

It depends on the weight of the jig and cover. For me, shaky head are sparse cover , finesse baits so usually a ml spinning rig.

Yes I will be using it for little to no cover and no bigger than 1/4 oz

what power rod would you guys use for shakey head fishing?

Depends on what and where.

I use a 7'6" UMBX rated for 1/2oz. I throw all the way up to 3/4oz heads on it though.

I use a M/XF. But I could see myself using a ML too. Sometimes I even use my mag heavy if I get tired of spinning gear.

Medium or medium/light will work for light cover and under 1/4oz.  I use ml casting gear personally.
