Tile in the cold

Featured Replies

Whooped me these last few days. We had the shelter of a garage and a small heater but it was still very cold. Turned out nice though. I'm happy for the owners.

I own a handy Manny business..so I do literally everything, but tile seems to come up often.

Nice ! Yea it sure does. And I'm not too fond of it through the winter. I like doing kitchens.. like cabinets.. except for the plumbing ! Ha-ha.

Also floors are usually a slam dunk especially if it's vinyl, laminate, or like a floating hardwood .

Interior doors are pretty easy, framing is ok..

My favorite thing to do is light fixtures. Ha-ha.

The only thing I don't really care for at all is drywall.

It was a contract for Lowes. So they supplied the sealer. I believe it was called redgard* It was over a tub and on the walls we used hardibacker.  Usually we talk the customer into a custom pitched shower floor. quickrete and an oatey pan liner.

Thank you sir.

Good looking work.

It's extremely hard to find good ceramic/porcelain guy.

I might be seeing it wrong, but in the second picture on the lower tile it looks like you're carrying the pattern around the corner rather than starting over on whatever bond you're running,  Is that the case?

Yep That's what they wanted... off some display at "the tile shop".. they didn't want it on the top though..  idk man some people lol. we also did the floor And tile base around the floor. . And are scheduled to go back after the first to install 3 vanity cabinets and countertop and hook up their plumbing. (Fun <_<)

That middle piece of trim above the accent piece ; called "chair rail" wasn't very fun either. A little nerve racking at 18 dollars apeice and cutting 45s on them. It wraps around the shower and all the way around the toilet. I need more pictures

And the top is actually glass... I prefer stone over all.

It's good looking work man.

Lol yeah you gotta love how much one little piece can cost. Usually that piece is made to order and coming out of Italy with a 8 wk lead time in my experience.  No pressure.

Again, solid looking job.

This is one of my favorites we did. Stone cuts like butter compared to all the others. We did the floor too and the round cuts around the toilet were a breeze compared to porcelain/ceramic

This is a different one of a tub and floor that turned out pretty sweet ! It's alot of work. Whenever a tile job comes up I don't jump with joy.. but.. it's pretty good money and it's satisfying in the end..

Man I wish I had your skills. Mighty impressive work. Looking back I spent way too much time learning welding and metal working and not nearly enough inside the house!

True that! But for me it was engines. Bought my first house and I'm having to learn as I go. Gotta love Google though

Nice yeajray

Thanks guys. @riverbasser engines is a good skill to have.. I'd have alot less worries if I knew I could fix all the engines around me lol.

@Buckeye Ron I'm pretty sure there is some money to be had in welding too !

Welding and endgine work are more of a necessity than tile work for sure.. but.. people like nice things in their homes... and it keeps me busy. .

We don't do just tile ! Ha-ha. I'd rather not to be honest. From start to finish it will really wear you down.

When I get a flooring job, I'm excited to start it, but after the first day I'm always looking at the finish line. Tough on the back and the knees, plus I work alone so I'm up and down constantly.
