Fishing Line Question

Featured Replies

I will be adding a new rod to my arsenal this winter. A medium power, fast action casting rod to be exact. I'd like to use it as an all-around rod using it for jerkbaits, topwater, small spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, texas rigs, and maybe some weightless senkos and flukes. My question is what is your opinion of line choice? I go braid to fluoro on my spinning rods and have braid on my jig rod, but was thinking about doing straight fluoro, probably 12 pound. What do you guys think?

Fluoro would be fine for everything except topwater because it sinks.

30 or 40# braid and a fc leader has always worked for me.  Micro guides can be a pain as the K of can get hung up on the cast.  Everytime I try straight fc I end up going back to braid so I'm a little biased.

A line like P Line CXX in 10 pound test might be a good compromise. If you go that way use 20 pound in moss green. It breaks around 23 pounds.  Also treat it with line conditioner. It has a bit of memory.

Agreed,  Yo Zuri would be a good choice also..

Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a good choice for "all-around" use.
