deep big bass reel

Featured Replies

looking at the Lews super duty, Revo STX, Revo winch. my set up is a 3/4 oz pitching jig&pig; on a 7-6 heavy TCS okuma. i throw this deep 20’-40’ for largemouths and just “slow” roll it. I’m wanting to upgrade my current reel. any thoughts, opinions and/or ideas would be appreciated.
$200 max

Why do you want a big heavy reel to fish a casting jig?

I have fished deep water jigs on long 50 yard cast with standard size bait casting reels for decades. See Old School Horizontal jigging.

My current reels are Daiwa Tatula R100's on custom ALX 6'10" rods.

not looking for a "big heavy reel". I'm new to fishing from a boat, I wore out a $30 black max in a year and a half with this set-up/technique. So you suggest the Daiwa Tatula R100's. THANKS

At 200 or less you have a lot of great reels available to you that will do a great job for you. Try to visit a few shops that stock reels. Buy the one that feels best to you.. just not a Quantum, Yucky....

My reels are all Lews.. it's hard to beat a Tournament Pro G.
