classic faux pas

Featured Replies

A guy comes on stage at the classic with a big bag of fish and proceeds to thank his motor sponsor for their support unit being there to keep him up and running even though he's the only guy there with that motor. He's wearing their hat and the company name's on his jersey. Day 2 bad day, no fish, and bad day cause he proceeds to say he ran the another brand of motor all over the lake looking for fish etc. Now I realize extreme  nervousness gets you at a time like this but this is the biggest event in bass fishing and I'm sure his sponsors would have liked to hear their own name. What happens to a guy in that situation?

 Just a wild wild guess is he went from 1 motor sponsor to zero.

Talking about Wesley Strader? I do know that Evinrude brought a maintenance trailer to the Classic just for him; maybe they had to leave on day two or something. I have no idea.

Yeah Wesley, and no they did not have to leave, he named the wrong motor co.

That's rough.

Wesley Strader is the only guy running a Evinrude or did it just work out that he was only evinrude guy that made it to the Classic?

It was comical...I looked at my wife and said he runs for Evinrude...if I am thinking right he said he was running a Yamaha. He had an Evinrude hat and Evinrude smack dab in the middle of his jersey.

He fishes the FLW tour, but made it to the classic by winning one of the southern opens. There are other guys running Evinrude on both tours but he had the only one at the classic. He said " I ran that Mercury all up and down the lake"  (or similar, but did say Merc)   felt bad for the guy then thought hell, he's on stage at the classic and I'm in the kitchen watching it on the computer!

OUCH! That's rough but I have to think they will cut him some slack for that. Of course, he'll get a lot of ribbing about it for a long time!

JT that's what my son said , and I hope that's the way it went. If they want to sell more motors they best laugh it off.
