Punching rod.

Featured Replies

In the market for a new punching rod. Is the loomis Imx 7'11" worth the money for it? I'm using a 7'6" right now and don't know if I'd like the longer rod. Is there any other viable options in the 7 6 range?

I don't do a ton of punching but I have a 7'6 XH moderate fast Kistler Helium for that technique.  It's unbelievably balanced.  I can flip an ounce and a quarter tungsten all day with no fatigue.  I initially tried with my 7'11 H St Croix Legend Extreme but the extra length with the heavy weight made it tough.  It was only comfortable with a counterbalance weight on the butt, which I just didn't like.

Irod 775, 7114 are worth a look. I know that there are some guys that use the 754 as a punch rod, I use it as a frog. good tip plenty of backbone.

Loomis makes great products. They will work well for what you want.

Lews Speed Stick Magnum One 7'

the rod is a monster. Forget the weight ratings on the rod... it's a hook setting stick with serious power.
