I used braid for the first time today, power pro original. (20 lb) it casts so far and I was able to pull all my snags out. i did get one wind knot but it was my fault, not the lines.

I recommend it to the first time braid user...

Power Pro is only braid I use. I've tried others over last 15 yrs, but always go back to power Pro. 

Original Power Pro is a solid performing braid for sure!!

I am also team power pro i like the sunline fx2 but the Power Pro is easier to find and I have not found any flaws with  it whatsoever

I have PP on two rigs.

If it wasn't inexpensive and carried at Wally World, I doubt it would be as popular.

 

I use 832 for anything I want to sink.

I used it for a while till I found Academy. H2O braid is $10/150Yds and their 20 and 30 is as good as any I've used, 832, Stren, Berkeley, and PP.

It's great line. Has rarely failed me, and the times it has usually it's been my fault.

I get it at Walmart where I've found it to be the cheapest.

Maxcuatro is awesome. I use 65 lb on my frog rod. 

Regular PP is excellent. I bit the bullet on a deal

for Power Pro Super Slick 8 (last year?) in 1500

yards and love it as much, if not more than regular.

I have that in 15# test, regular in 10#, and 20# for

my BC.

Power Pro is my most used braid, but Suffix Premium Braid is also excellent.  And a new one, not easy to find (try RodComponentsUSA.com)  by American Tackle, the same folks who market Bushido blanks (high performance, high value).  It's called the Bushido Combat Braid.  I used it for bonefish with fly/jigs last winter, and it performed beautifully.  Long casts, no stretch, strong knots.

At the onset I should say, I am not into hero worship (be it line, rods, reels, lures or what have you).

Power Pro braid is braided polyethylene, but it is nothing to write home about (who is Power Pro anyway?)

My introduction to Power Pro braid took place in year 2005. Just my luck, my wife & I acquired

a bad batch of 30-lb Power Pro on a bulk spool. In full defense of Power Pro, they not only admitted

to producing a bad batch of 30-lb bulk spools, but offered to replace my bulk spool at no charge to me.

By that time I already had my sights trained on another braided line, and summarily declined

their generous offer (not at all what they expected).

 

The braid I choose to replace Power Pro was "Berkley Fireline Braid". By the way, it was dubbed

'Fireline Braid' in 2006 but is now called 'Trilene Braid', because many confused it with fused Fireline.

Although anglers tend to waltz around Berkley Trilene braid, I cannot say one bad thing

about their braided line, we had nothing but a pleasant experience. Today I use "Sufix 832 braid"

primarily because of its Gore fiber, otherwise I might still be throwing Trilene Braid.

I cuurently use powerpro yellow, suffix and fireline. That firelines been around for a looong time
