Strike King Rage Shad

Featured Replies

This thing has recently come to my attention. Can anyone fill me in on tips and techniques? My home lake has miles and miles of Lilly Pads that border the shorlines.....

I love how much noise it makes on top of the water. But the tail seems a bit weak. Might come off after a fish or two.

I thought the same, but I have used one bait on multiple trips. They just get the whole bait in their mouth - not a lot of short strikes to pull at the tail. GP with just the tip of the tail dipped in Chartreuse JJ's Magic when they are feeding on Bluegill is a great combo. Of course, the Pearl & the Smokey Shad when they are feeding on baitfish.

do you just work it like a buzzbait?

Yup just buzz it across the top....except it is weedless, so you can run it across almost anything.

The rage tail shad is a thumper for sure, just work it like a buzzbait.

It has the most action/noise on a buzz type frog/toad.

Great around cover and in the rain as well.

The tails are not the most durable but considering the action it's worth the trade off.

Just my opinion

A LETHAL bait, basically a weedless, soft buzzbait. I rig them on a 4/0 EWG and 12 to 17 pound mono. Sometimes they will outfish a buzzbait two or three to one. And sometimes a regular buzzbait works better, but having both really pays off. As far as soft toad or soft buzzbait type plastic, the rage shad is the very best IMO.

The Rage Shad is fished like a solid toad, and therefore offers wide area coverage.

Although it creates a great deal of commotion, its activation speed is faster than I prefer,

so I substitute with soft swimbaits, weedless spoons & solid toads.

Try threading them on a buzzbait with the skirt removed. It makes a ton of racket!
