I only have Abu Garcia fishing reels, i have Silvermax 3, Orra SX2 and Promax, im going to get a new one, but im between revo SXT and MGX any advice, im basically new in this art of fishing i have a couple of year but i never went more than 6 times a year, thisnis the first year that i been going every week and even twice a week when i have the oportunity. By the way im a shore freshwater fisher. Tageting Bass

Well the MGX is a flagship model close to $400. The other is right around the entry level Revo and costs around $175. 

 

I have a couple MGX reels and use them down to weightless plastic up to 3/4oz jigs. Not a very fair comparison though. Do you want a Corvette or an Impala?

Also look at the Premier, it's going for $230ish right now and is a much better reel then the STX. Same brake system as the MGX, light and a great all purpose reel

Actually the premier is $160 on abu Garcia website. 

Save some money and have your Abus tuned by Delaware Valley Tackle.  He tuned my Abus and the're completely transformed.

 

Mike's work is great and prices very reasonable.

I have an MGS and an STX...I prefer the MGX...if I could buy the MGX for $10 less than the STX I wouldn't even think about it...if the handle was on the other side of the reel, I'd have one on the way right now...

(I also have an LTX.  Like it even more than the MGX)

I cheked and is $ 229 i think they had an error on the price because i saw the STX at $ 79 and a day later was $159

Looks like they went back to regular prices, they were selling them discounted for a while. Some of us even got them for $115.another thread has a link to buy the premier for $150. The MGX for $189 at American legacy is a pretty good deal as well.
