Featured Replies

Iam wondering if 50 pound spider wire stealth is good for swim jigs and chatterbaits

Yep.

Unless you are in the salad, I think it is overkill, but no real downside

I agree with the boys above,

50-lb braid would be fine, but 30-lb braid would be ideal.

I just used. 50 pound braid with a jig and a 7 ft. Gator snapped it like it was thread.  Other then gators it will be great.

I've never been entirely clear on the different applications for 4 carrier vs 8 carrier line.  The braided I currently have is a mix of both and I'm not entirely sure what differences I'm supposed to be seeing.

8 carrier should be more round smooth and make very little noise threw the guides.  4 carrier will be more rough and should cut better for frogs and punching in thick mats.  Brands vary on how they do these things.

youll get a better cast with 30/40, save the 50/65 for the salad.

For swim jigs and chatterbaits I use 30. For general jigs for casting/pitching to cover or dragging on the bottom I use 40lb. But I think depending on how thick your cover is 50 could be justified as well.

I just don't get why such heavy braid.. This weekend I did some bay fishing and was landing 40 inch bass on 10 lb Braid with 20 lb FC, no digging in and in fact after a couple the line performed better...
