okay im looking to add some electronics to my jon boat i have an old shakespear trolling motor and i want to add a helix 5 di my question is what kind of battery should i be looking at to run all of this if i only want to have one on board? or should i be getting 2 and running the helix off the smaller one?

Running the 2 off the same battery can cause interference on you finder.

Somebody on here once said they use a wheel chair battery to run their unit on their kayak and it wasn't too expensive if I remember right. The number that pops in my head is $30 but don't quote me on it. It might not last you 8 hrs, then again those electric wheel chairs go forever before they need a charge and I imagine a helix units draws a lot less then an ectric chair.

one battery will last around 10-15hrs of fishing. I've gone on three day trips without ever charging one.

my jon boat has a motorguide pro 40 trolling motor. i gotta pair of garmin striker 4 sonar units as well. i run everything off of one battery with zero interference.

do you mind showing me what battery this is

I have a 9ah 12V battery to run my Helix 5SI unit and it will also all ay without any issues.
