1/4 oz crankbaits vs 3/8 oz crankbaits

Featured Replies

on a baitcaster. What weight do you prefer out of the two for an all around crankbait?

And I request that a mod please delete one of my topics... Somehow it double posted the same topic twice.

A 3/8th ounce will  cast further dig deeper . I dont know what my crankbaits weigh .  None of them .

Depends on what your rod is weighted for.

Mine is on the heavier side so 3/8 works for me.

Don't  tell anyone but my lightest CB gets thrown on a Med spinning rod until next yr.

My boat doesn't allow me to get close enough to use my CB rod.

.....and yes, I am looking for a Lund too

Edit.....most of my shallow CB are rated to 5 or 6 ft, and fall into the 3/8 side

I use a 1/2oz on almost all of my Rat-L-Traps and other cranks.

Definitely 3/8 and up for me.

Actually I don't even remember the last time I purchased a crankbait weighing less than 3/8.

I throw 3/8 ounce and heavier.  I can throw 1/4 ounce on a bc rig if I have to, but I prefer spinning rigs for those lighter crankbaits.

I don't really pay attention to weight preferring to pay attention to length, shape, tight wobble, wide wobble, running depth.

Bout the only 1/4 oz I throw is a Rat-L-Trap ;)
