Hey guys. I took my daiwa exceler 2000 HA apart for the 1st time and I can't figure out where this piece fits. 

Schematics are terrible. 

 

Please help!! ??

Sorry I cannot help.  This is one of the reasons I let the pros do the serious service work.  Reels are so complex today that I think it good judgment to let the pros do anything that requires dis-assembly more than taking the side plates off for access to the first layer, or changing level wind pawls.  It's just too easy to screw it up.  If you're like I am.

If you took the clutch assembly apart, I think it is the spacing sleeve..

Thanks! But I did not. I took off the bail assembly, spool, handle and side plates.

Take a look at the attached schematic. It looks like item 65 (collar E) for the 2000HA. It goes over the black cut collar in the pic above #67(Collar F) which is on your thumb screw.

I think your right!! Thanks man. Makes sense since the handle assemble is very loose now. 

Odd since it's not even on the 2000 sh schematic that came with the reel. 

 

 

Doesn't work if fitted over the collar however. Just blocks it from going inside the shaft. Perhaps it fits somewhere behind the retainer or the pinion gear?

Starting to think it's one of the o rings...its a semi soft rubber 

Scratch that I think I got it. Your correct @cadman I was able to force. It over the shaft actually, by placing it over the thumb collar.
