Texas fishing towns, help!

Featured Replies

Hello!

I am in Texas all week, been checking it out because I want to move here after my last year of college. I would like to know if there are any communities or towns that have a lot of bass fishermen around? I've been addicted to bass fishing since I was a kid. I come from a small town and fishermen/ hunting guys and gals are who I want to live around and make friends with.

Its kind of a weird question but if theres any info info out there let me know!

Thanks,

Cody

Dallas Metro Mess! ;)

Depends on what kind of work ya doing?

Jasper would be the place for you!

@Bass_Fanatic will agree the type of work ya plan on getting into will greatly influence where ya wanna be located.

Just about anywhere in the state of Texas has an abundance of outdoorsman but not necessarily a ton of work.

The Texas/Louisiana border at Sabine Pass has trillions of dollars of economic development going on right now.

Thanks for the replies guys! Sorry for the late reply, lots of work this week. But for work I am about to finish my criminal justice degree and I'm planning to apply to a few city police departments along with the state troopers as well!

If you are that into the outdoors and have a CJ degree, why not look at being a game warden? I would do it in a heartbeat if I had to do it all over again.

Seems like Hemphill would be good place for ya!

Yeah I was thinking about doing that actually! I think it would be a really cool job for me too even if I just do it for a few years.

Only truly unhappy GW I have ever met were single guys in the border towns. Not much for a young single fella out there...but they knew it wasn't forever. On the flip side, it is pretty common for the new graduates to be stationed out there. But once again, if I had it to do all over again, I'd jump on it either way.

Many areas in Texas offer fishing spots like no other state. Mostly because the climate allows for year round fishing. Dallas area, central and east Texas have more lakes than other areas. Although Texas State Troopers are probably the best "Paid" law enforcement folks, you have to keep in mind that if you are hired as a Trooper, you will have little to say where they place you (Pecos, Midland areas have little to offer a fisherman!)

East Texas, you're welcome!

Aggieland USA, Bryan/College Station, 2 towns, 3 police departments to choose from (Bryan PD, College Station PD and Texas A&M University PD). There is also a State Trooper center here, I have quite a few State Trooper buddies that live in Bryan & College Station, they do travel a lot though all over the state.

Also the Brazos Country Sheriffs Department.

We have plenty of fishing here I go as much as possible.
