Bull Shoals help

Recommended Posts

I'm taking the family down to Bull Shoals here at the end of August and I need some advice.  I know this particular lake can be feast or famine when it comes to the bass bite and I'd like to go as prepared as possible.

What do you all throw this time of the year?  What spots do you hit?  Are there any particular colors that work better for you than others?

What part of the lake are you fishing?

Hotdawg is the best guide in the region, so if he says it's tough...it's tough!

You would be much better off fishing below the dam for trout, especially if

you are fishing with kids.

Only been once about 30 years ago but we did good on live crawfish with a split shot on points. Largemouth, smallmouth, and catfish in the same spots. Good luck.

We're actually staying at a place just below the dam.  Doing some trout fishing for sure but was going to rent a boat for the day on saturday and hit the lake just above the dam at lakeview and see what we could find.

Thank you for all the tips, I really appreciate it.

Just fished at the Beaver Creek ramp. Lake is flooded. I got bit more on Taneycomo and that was nothing to brag about.

Hadn't been on the lake for several years but I grew up near there and fished it regularly back then. According to Arkansas Fish and Game, BS is the top bass lake in the state based on tournament catches and shocking reports. Its hard to believe but the fish making up the highest percentages are smallmouth. The lake is full of them and a better overall size than most lakes in the country. Fish deep points near the dam out of the state park with black hair jigs, shaky heads and drop shots. You will get bit!!
