My Brother in Law ,gave me his old Gamefisher outboard, but the starter rope is frayed. I checked, and Sears no longer makes the part. Anyone know of an after market company that can help me out?

Man, I don't know what you did to p**s him off that bad, but it must have been something serious.  I feel the same way about those as I did the International Scout.  If you wanted to make your best friend your worst enemy, give him a Scout.

 

Not sure how old you are referring to but if recent old, look up parts for a Tanaka 300. 

If very old, the powerheads were made by Tecumseh and almost no parts are available for those things.

If it's  just the rope, any small engine shop should have replacement pull rope on bulk roles.

Geez...I loved my '76 IH Scout II!

 

345 V8, lockable hubs, two speed transfer case...that thing'd go up a cliff sideways...

 

...of course it'd rust so fast on the way up you'd have to replace the rear window when you got to the top, and again when you got to the bottom...

I may be wrong but I always just used cord from the hardware store cut to length...

I grew up as a young child fishing with my grandfather out of a 12' john boat with a 3hp Gamefisher on the back. Thanks for the memories.

Right or wrong depends on what aisle you bought the cord in, but a good hardware store will have it, and a better hardware store will have a couple guys drinking coffee and telling fish stories somewhere nearby.

 

Just use 550 paranoid, can get it at WalMart
