Sooo I have never been on a actual fishing vacation before and I'm wondering if anyone knows any good places.  I live in New York and don't mind driving a good ways. I don't own a boat all I have is a canoe so smaller lakes/ponds is what I'm looking for. But waters that hold huge fish! Anyone know any good places maybe down south that hold Hogs and is a fun place to vacation at?

After watching a couple Zona episodes shot at Grosse Savanne in Louisiana, my suggestion would be there.  It looks pretty stellar.

I want something cheap and that I can take my canoe on.. take like a 3-5 day trip and learn the lake and hopefully catch a hog 

If you're in NY, I'd travel up to Canada. There is water everywhere up there and there's little-no fishing pressure. So lots of fish to catch!

Have you looked at a map of Ontario before? Throw a dart at the map and go wherever it lands.

he went somewhere in North Carolina as well with his kids and was catching monster bluegill and bass. I just cant remember where it was.

 

The Kings Fisher Society on Richmond Mill Lake is where I believe it was.

Saranac Lake area near the Adirondacks is perfect. It's going to be absolutely beautiful soon, plus the fishing for bass is incredible!!! I stayed at Osgood Pond with my family and fishing out of a canoe caught my standing PB of 6 lbs for a largemouth.
