Braid to Fluro knot - braid unraveling?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have this problem, and what did you do to fix it? I use an Alberto knot, and it seems like after a few casts the main line braid starts to unravel, and the strands get stuck in the little tag ends of the knot. No idea why this happens...it seems to only happen with Suffix 832 for me.

Never heard of that l.  only problem I've ever encountered was my mono leader broke right below the knot while casting. Sounds like you're not cinching the knot down tight enough

Just a guess, but are you certain that:

  1. You are making the loop with the leader material and not with the braid, and
  2. When you finish the wraps going back towards the loop, you are passing the main line through the loop the same way the main line went through to start the knot?

Either of those two things done wrong will likely make the knot unravel.

Have had too many Alberto Knot failures this year - just switched to the FG knot.  Practice it three times and you'll understand it and switch.  Alberto sucks --

I'll give the FG knot a try. I'll have to post pictures of what I'm talking about, its not the knot that comes undone, but rather the braided main line, right before the knot; It's almost like the braid is too limp and all the strands separate.

This is an unusual problem. I've been tying fluoro to braid for many years on many rods, using this Alberto. No problems, no worries.

Sounds like it's your braid. I never liked the 8 strand braids
