Loctite on knots

Featured Replies

Does anyone use Loctite on their knots when joining one type of line to another? If so, does it help?

I use to use Loctite Gel Glue when I joined braid to fc but I don't think it is really necessary. I don't use it anymore because I don't think it helps a bad tied knot.

I did when I first started using the FG but jot so much anymore

If you have to use super glue on your knots, you're tying them wrong.

You don't want hard glue bump or stiff section of line going through your small diameter fresh water rod guides. We glued whined on tubular braid to leader splice unions for off shore big game fish several years ago in an effort to reduce knot size.

No.  It took me long enough just to learn how to tie the knots that work for me.  I have yet to learn how to keep the Loctite/super glue off my fingers so my fingers aren't stuck to everything else.  :)

If the connecting knot is tied right, I don't see the need. I've never had a line-to-line knot fail on me, ever.

I have not had knots fail when going braid to flourocarbon. I have had them fail occasionally when tying to mono for top water.  I have caught some big fish on light line with my usual knot over a lot a years, so I have confidence in the knot.  Recently though,  I have flung off a few PopMax's, bigger Sammys, etc, during the cast. Maybe my braid and/or mono leader is too slick?
