Lew's Super Duty

Featured Replies

Im looking to buy a lews super duty in a left hand retrieve. if you have one let me know. I want to use it for frogging. Any body have a review?

Not saying its no good/won't work etc.. I love my SD as well as all my Lew's reels. Just saying a Super Duty is overkill for frogs. Others will work just fine. A Super Duty is a little heavier than others as well adding to fatigue. That reel is better suited for large cranks, A-Rigs and large Swimbaits (What I use my SD for). You make long casts and slow retrieves whereas Frog fishing consists of cast after cast after cast which leads to fatigue.

It's a fine reel.  It was designed to be braid ready with a tie slot on the spool.  It has a long power handle and a solid gear train. It will make a great froggin reel.  I have two but mine are righties QM.  Sorry.

Cabela's has the 8:0.1 LEFT hand Super Duty on sale for $99---you will be hard pressed to find a better price fro a new Super Duty. They only have Left hand or I would grab one up at that price---great reel--great frog reel--great price. Better get one while they are there.  Code 7TENOFF gets you another 10% off--heck of a deal

I have a couple and I really like them. If you can get one for $99, that's unbeatable.

I did see them on sale at Cabelas a couple weeks ago. They are getting rid of them to make room for the new Super Duty SLP model. I have 3 SLP models and really like them. Makes them even more easy to palm.

Everyone still pleased with their super duty at 99 bucks? Just ordered mine. First lefty baitcaster.

If you don't like your lefty I'll trade you my right handed lews super duty 7.1 ratio for it. Only used it like 3 or 4 times.

I just got a super duty and 2 super duty wide spools and I love them. They are super smooth and they cast a lot further than my revo-s and johnny morris signature series. The only thing that I don't like is the spool tensioner on them. I have to really crank it down just to hold my 6" hudd. I thought it would be a little stronger holding those large baits. Has anyone else noticed that when throwing large swimbaits on the superduty?

I also got a couple mach 2's and those things can cast weightless soft plastics a mile. I couldn't believe how far I was slinging those things.

I plan to use mine for pitching heavy cover and possibly frogs. Mainly bought it because it was "heavy" compared to my other reels. Trying to find a good balance point in my pitching stick
