Curado 300 e or tranx 300

Featured Replies

I just ordered a dobsyn swimbait Rod to throw large swimbaits. I was going to throw a tranx 300 on it but when I went to tackle shop they had a deal on the discontinued curado 300 e. Anyone use the curado for a swimbait reel?

Yes, it's an excellent reel that I've used a ton for swimbaits and A rigs. I've landed stripers over 20 pounds on it, it'll handle any bass you'll hook.

I have two CU 300E's to throw Swimbaits and A-Rigs and I love them!

I think the 300E is a good swimbait reel, slightly larger spool with 6:1 ratio makes it ideal for surface wake baits like rats and Lunker Plunker type lures, easy to slow the retrieve slightly for deep slow swimmers like Hudds.

I have both. I'd rather buy 300e at the sale prices they're going for its a bullet proof reel. The tranx is sleeker smaller profile.  the The 5.8:1 tranx300 has slightly more ipt than the 6:1 300e. The tranx is a bad ass reel. But so is the 300e. I do  alot of swimbaiting. That's mostly all I use them for.  Can't go wrong with the 300e.

300e has borderline legend status and I've heard a lot of hardcore swimbait guys praise the reel. Tranx has also been getting good initial reviews and I'm planning on adding the 7.6:1 at some point soon, but if I came across a good closeout deal on the 300e I'd have to pull the trigger.
