Ya'll Watch Out / Question for Fluke & LBH

Featured Replies

It's at the shop being checked out and if all is OK (it's really clean so I'm reasonably sure it will) I just got me my first bass boat.

It's a 2003 Skeeter w/ 175 HP Yamaha HPDI.....red and silver sparklie colors.....I am all fired up!!!!

So here's the warning for all you Ky Lake and Lake Barkley fisherpeople......I'm a learnin so no laughin at me if you see me at the ramp strugglin....and if you see me on the water best to go way wide of me.....or just turn around and run ;)  ;D:o  ;D:o

Here's my question for Fluke & LBH.....Can you guys tell me again where the brake pedals are on these things or do I just have to hope Fluke is always at the dock to stop the thing? :) :)

Well we have something in common.  I'm in the process of buying my first bassboat too.  An 18ft Nitro with a 150 Merc on it.  Can't find the brakes or clutch on this one either. ;D

Congrats on the new boat!!! ;)

Remember All GO No WHOA!  ;D  ;D

Just beee safe.

Congrats guys.

Just remember its all about resistance of the water and coasting into the dock slowly. Dont fly in and try to slam down the break peddle. ;D

Good luck and be safe.

Few pointers that will help everyone.

Read the instructions.  (yeah I said it)  very important.

Familiarize yourself with all the features

Learn how to back the boat trailer before going to the boat ramp.

those three will save you alot of stress on the boat ramp and in the water

MOST IMPORTANT.  DONT FORGET TO PUT THE PLUG IN ;)

GMAN I think all of us have forgot the plug at least once or twice. lol Cograts on the new boats to both

Bought my first bass boat 2 years ago.  The previous owner was kind enough to take me through trailering, launching, motoring, trolling motoring and recovery.  The best advice he gave me was to just plain slow down on everything you do regarding the boat.  So far so good....Good luck with your boat.

Good advice noway....fortunately I have a good friend that is going to do the same for me. I also learned alot from the good folks here at BR during the Fork trip. I'm really excited about the boat but it will be a while before I open it up all the way. I will be taking it slow to start.

BTW it checked out better than I thought.......only 55 hours on the engine and a clean bill of health. Transaction to take place in the morning.  8-)

You might see some hand signals yourself if you take too long getting that thing in the water at the ramp!!  ;D  Just messin' with you man, if you are having trouble there will most likely be someone close by to lend you a hand. You'll have launching and trailering mastered in no time!

Sounds like a real sweet rig, especially with the Yamaha! Good luck with it and I'd like to see some pics once you get that baby home!

Oh Crap. Carl got a boat with a big motor.

I hope you got insurance with that thing. lol

I don't know how I missed this thread. I am glad for you Carl and a little jealous.

Here is a chance for you to practice.  ;D

lol coachitall, I did that once. With a friend of mine, we were on a 24' pontoon with a 50 horse Johnson, at top speed, we chucked the anchor. It was a pretty sharp awakening.
