I had third guide from tip of baitcast rod pull out -- clean pull, towards tip, with no visible damage to wrap, blank, etc.    I put it 'back', fit in quite snug and if I didn't know better, I would be hard pressed to figure which one was the problem.  Can I just re-set the guide with a spot of super-glue?  Or...???  Should I get a complete tear-down/repair of that guide?  Been looking for a local builder, but nothing yet. 

Rod has a lifetime warranty, but not sure its worth the cost/trouble if I can fix nearly as well. 

If you're talking about the ring, yes, a touch of super glue will hold it just fine.   Make sure the frame is not bent first.  That'll stress the ring as cause it to break.   Clean any glue overrun off the inside of the ring as it'll catch/wear the line.   Gel is better in that regard.   Some guide have tabs that touch the ring, some are fully concentric.

If the frame is bent and can't be straightened, then change the guide or have changed.  

I had one old Fuji come out last week, after about 20 years, and I carry glue in the boat for this, but all my tubes were dried/setup.  But I fixed it a home and restocked the boat.

I've switched to all SiC guides for that reason, they're formed on the ring so won't come off and last much longer, worth the extra cost.   If you can't afford all SiC, then at least use for the tip top.  

It's annoying when they give you a warranty then want to replace with the same defective item.   They should refund your money, if you prefer it.

Not certain that I fully understand, however.  Are you talking about the insert?  I had the entire guide (foot, frame, insert...) pull straight out from the wrap.  The guide looks a lot like this one:

I was able to slide the foot back under the wrap and it seems tight, but I understand that it won't take a lot to pull it back out next time.  I thought maybe I could put a tiny drop of super glue on the foot before sliding it back in under the wrap?

Then again, its tight enough sliding it in that I'd probably strip any glue off on the way in

The "right" way to fix that is a re-wrap. That said, if you put super glue on the foot, insert it then put a drop where it meets the blank it may last indefinitely. 

You may see a difference in color of the wrap if using glue and putting it back in.  If it does not bother you then its worth a try as the end result may be the same.  I would look into a product called zap a gap, its a fast setting glue uses in building radio control aircraft. Its the strongest "super" glue i have found.

Certainly worth a try to glue it.  If it works, you're done. If it doesn't, then a re-wrap is the next step.

If you're wanting to do it yourself and be useable upholstery thread from Walmart and a little epoxy works well, or you can pay someone in your area about $10-$20 and it will look much better. I always base it on the cost of the rod which method I choose.

Sorry, this is late but you said insert in your post, not guide as I recall.

If the feet came out of the wrappings, then the threads had to break or feet deformed, so glue won't hold them very well.

I'd replace the guide and re-wrap.  

I was specifically addressing what to do when the ceramic insert comes out.
