Fenwick rods

Featured Replies

Are fenwick Hmx and hmm rod good rods?

I have a fenwick hmg 6'9 ml-f spinning rod that I am very fond of for finnese techniques. Sensitive, durable, well balanced, and reasonably priced.

Had an eagle and hmx, but I wasn't as impressed as with the hmg.

Yes...yes they are!  ?

I use the HMX as my dedicated drop shot rod. It has a great soft tip very light and sensitive. I have also had no problem horsing big smallies with it out of Erie and St. Claire.

I assume by hmm that you mean HMG.  Never used an HMX, but have a few HMGs.  Yes they are good rods.  Never used a Fury, but from what I have read for another $10 they are a rod you might want to consider as another option.  I've always felt I got good value for the money from Fenwick.

Are you looking at casting rods or spinning rods?  You can get a 7' M Helios spinning rod from Jet for $105.77.  Rod is listed at 3.7 oz.  I liked the casting model enough to buy a second one (both 7' M).  As much as I like my HMG rods, I would spend the extra $5.78 for the Helios.

Find a used Techna AV and stop looking ?

Seriously, I've said this many times on here. IMHO The Techna is the best rod they ever made and on par with many higher end rods made today.
