What rod would you recommend for jigs???

What specs of a rod would you recommend for jiggin??

Depends on jig size and cover. My bread and butter is a 1/2oz jig in cover so i like a 7' 3" heavy/fast rod.

If you give us more details on what size jigs you will be fishing and how heavy the cover, you will get rod spec suggestions.  And if you give us your $$ budget you will get very specific suggestions.

Some possibilities.

I find it hard to fish jigs as I am a bit impatient.  Just learned from a fellow member that it is one of two best ways to fish at a lake I sometimes visit so I guess I will be practicing being more patient next year.  :D  Actually jigs and Senkos are they only lures he has been successful with there.

I'd bet a lot of rods mentioned in the linked thread will also be mentioned in this thread.  Luckily for me I have a couple of the mentioned rods to try.  Hammer, Mojo, Techna AV and ALX Deputy (on the way) plus a couple not mentioned.  Going to take a lot of patience on my part to determine a favorite.  :(

You are fishing the same size I use and in the same environment. a 7'MH fast tip works for me.  I use BPS Carbonlites.

I like a mh/f for fishing in submerged milfoil. It has just enough backbone to pop the jig loose when it gets hung up.

Irod Crusher 734

Depends a lot on your budget. Dobyns FR734C would make a good jig and worm rod.

Hey Bud

When you get your ALX can you post or pm your impression of it?

I'm close to a final decision and would like your opinion.

Thanks

Sure Mike.  I may brave the cold and head over to Leaser Lake.  I know from previous experience I can cast with leather gloves on.  :laughing7:

I ordered some jigs from TW during Black Friday and some from Siebert's today although I have a few that haven't seen water yet.
