i have thrown a 2 1/2oz baits on a rod rated for 1 1/2 oz it's possible to do but i really dont recommend it. also i would get the rat instead

I'm sure bass will hit that thing but I bet the hookup ratio is pretty terrible. And if you do hook them it looks like they will have a ton of leverage! Just my .02 :wacko:

The 4 1/2" is intended to be a bass lure. Tbe 6" a musky/pike lure. I use 2-3 oz top waters like Lunker Punkers and rats a lot with my swimbait rods.

Big heavy lures require tackle that can easily cast them.

Large topwaters require specialized gear, usually swimbait rods and reels. I have a few topwaters in the 2+ ounce range, and once the 2 190 ploppers I ordered today get here, I'll have a couple more :)

I bought one of the Ducks last year to use as a xmas tree ornament, a role it is reprising this year.  I have thrown it a few times, but it seems pretty close to a WP 130 but maybe a little less loud/agressive.  

 

 

It's a swimbait so it requires a swimbait setup. You can probably get away with a punch rod or flipping stick though.
